Syfte och mål

The primary goal is to develop next generation ultra-high performance wireless communication technology for I-IoT and Industry4.0. I will closely co-supervise the ABB co-funded PhD student Xiaolin Jiang who is working on the topic of “Millimeter Waves (mmWaves) Communications with Very low Latency for Automation Applications” (the “Joint PhD Project”). I will also be involved in the establishment of relevant research topics at KTH-AC and ABB.

Resultat och förväntade effekter

The objectives of the Joint PhD Project include: 1) ground-breaking design of MAC protocol to guarantee the quality of the data transmission, the very low latency (micro second level), and very high throughput (gigabit-per-second level), 2) IPRs/patent, 3) theatrical models and demonstrators, 4) publications in top journals, 4) ABB-KTH joint proposals.

Upplägg och genomförande

Time: The proposed project will start on Jan 1, 2016. I will distribute 3 month of time over 18 months. Note my collaboration with KTH is a long term activity. The schedule of the first 2 years of the Joint PhD Project is: -Year 1 (Oct 2015- Sep 2016): review existing literatures; qualitatively analyze the requirements; conduct simulation. -Year 2 (Oct 2016- Sep 2017): analyze the performance of SotA protocols by theoretical models; verify the model and performance by simulation; analyze the feasibility of implementing
