Syfte och mål
The drivers for the ´GCDC-SWE 2012´ project have been to demonstrate advanced platooning scenarios including semi-automated vehicles where a driver controls the lateral movements whereas the longitudinal speed is controlled by systems developed by the team members. Building competence in the universities also implies supporting the students participating in finding work in the automotive industry hence making use of the skills created by the project.
Resultat och förväntade effekter
The demonstrator shows cooperative vehicles driving in a platoon performing semi-automated maneuvers e.g. leaving and joining a platoon. The rule set used was also used in the GCDC2011 competition, whereas the scenarios in the demonstration were developed specifically for the GCDC2012-SWE event. Also more communication messages needed to be added to cope with the lateral movements. The rules concern anything from minimum distance between vehicles, allowed maximum speed to basic communication protocols.
Upplägg och genomförande
The ´GCDC-SWE 2012´ project partners were Volvo Cars, AB Volvo (VTEC), Scania, Chalmers University of Technology (CTH), The Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Linköping University (LiU), Halmstad University (HH), Test Site Sweden, SAFER and Swedsish ICT Viktoria (VI). Fengco and Sitech have sponsored the project with valuable technical equipment. It is the intention of the project to create a platform for partners working with cooperative systems that will grow over time with partners in Sweden and abroad.
