Syfte och mål
To long-term aim is to significantly contribute to a more sustainable plastic industry by reducing the cost, and decreasing the environmental footprint, of biobased and biodegradable plastics. Through our Project, PHA will become more cost-effective, and fossil-based plastics can be replaced on a large scale, leading to less fossil-fuel emissions, and less plastics in nature, including less microplastics in our oceans.
Förväntade effekter och resultat
The short-term goal is to demonstrate a commercially and environmentally viable pilot-scale production of PHAs from crude glycerol, a by-product of biodiesel industry. This, in turn, will result in a basis to plan collaborations with industry partners, and a future collaborative production process
Planerat upplägg och genomförande
The Project will be carried out in Three intergrated and overlapping stages for a period of 11 months. It will parly be technical development in the lab in Lund. To ensure interst from future collaboration partners, however, we will hav to show the benefits of the solution, which is why we are also including the evaluation and modelling of the business case.
