Koordinator | GKN Aerospace Sweden AB - Avd 9005 |
Bidrag från Vinnova | 1 500 000 kronor |
Projektets löptid | juni 2018 - augusti 2021 |
Status | Avslutat |
Syfte och mål
The purpose of TiCASE was to: Develop design-for-casting methodology Make use of unique casting facility in Germany Extend the casting simulation capabilities at RISE to titanium alloys Strengthen the titanium materials competence at University West. Strengthen the position of GKN leading to business with the engine OEMs globally The project has focussed on: How to tailor a titanium structure design to optimize castability, minimize casting defects and reduce weight Investigate the relationship between casting parameters, mechanical properties, microstructure and defects
Resultat och förväntade effekter
The project has been a great success, in spite of the Corona pandemic slowing down activities in 2020. GKN, RISE and University West have gained invaluable insights in working closely with a titanium casting company and GKN can now in a better way design for optimized castings. It should be noted that there are no titanium casting suppliers for aerospace structural parts in Sweden today so this project enabled a very important international collaboration.
Upplägg och genomförande
The Ticase project was carried out in international cooperation with a German LUFO project.
