Viktiga resultat som projektet gav
One important planned activity in Swedish Mining Innovation’s agenda has been to create a network for PhD students working with mining-related research in Sweden. The SMI PhD student network has since its establishment in early 2019 acted as a platform for discussion and exchange for more than 40 such PhD students, and has enabled a dialogue with other relevant actors in the field, such as industry, authorities and academia. The activities of the network have aided in providing a broader perspective on how to find innovative solutions to the challenges of the Swedish mining sector.
Långsiktiga effekter som förväntas
The Swedish Mining Innovation PhD student network actively contributed to several aims and effects: - Competence supply to the Swedish mining and exploration industry, incl. a range of different stakeholders. - Networking between PhD students to find ways of future collaboration - Skill and experience development of PhD students through site visits at various stakeholders in the Swedish mining industry (e.g. mine sites, machine construction, geological institutions)
Upplägg och genomförande
Apart from recruitment activities and establishment of communication channels and social media presence, the main activities involved workshops for the PhD students and other stakeholders of the Swedish mining sector. Two physical workshops were held in Gällivare and Örebrio, respectively. Themes revolved around challenges of the Swedish mining industry including guest speakers from academia, government agencies and industry. Two additional workshops were held online due to travel and meeting restrictions associated with the covid-19 pandemic.
