Syfte och mål
As the fifth in a series of conferences that began in 1978, this 2014 conference hosted by IFSTTAR follows the on-going study and analysis of achievements and progress, challenges encountered by women. The conference´s objectives areto deepen the understanding of gender-related transportation issues and to promote the concept of women as active users of transportation systems and services as well as women´s participation and leadership in public policy development, sustainable mobility and the improvement of transportation programs and services responsive to gendered needs.
Resultat och förväntade effekter
The conference will provide an international forum for debate on these issues. Toward that end, the conference proposes to assemble a diverse audience from the world of transportation (international leaders, elected public officials, researchers and academics, students, public policy experts, and transport providers and operators) to share recent research findings, best practices and innovations; and public policy analyses. An important outcome of the conference will be the identification of research needs for future and further study and action plans.
Upplägg och genomförande
The conference program is on these four research themes: Transportation Policy, Transportation Modes, and Mobility; Health, Personal Security and Safety; Sustainable Mobility; Impacts of Mobility of Women´s Professional and Personal Lives. In addition, three cross-cutting, complimentary topics: Addressing gender in research; Translating research results into actions and public transportation policy.
