Viktiga resultat som projektet gav
The aim of this project is to develop a Centre for Neuroeconomics and to strengthen my qualification to become a research leader. The goal of the Center is to foster the understanding of human decision-making behavior through interdisciplinary collaboration and provide a regular venue for daily interaction between researchers in Economics, neuroscience, radiology, experimental psychology and medical informatics, that are all engaged in studying decision making and the brain.
Långsiktiga effekter som förväntas
My hope is that through the Centers interdisciplinary collaboration we will increase the understanding of human decision-making behavior, resulting in several peer-reviewed articles, new graduate courses on decision making and the mind, seminars, colloquia and workshops that will take place throughout each year. On the personal level I expect to become an associate professor, follow two PhDs to their dissertations, fund and recruit two new PhDs, and employ two new post-docs in the group.
Upplägg och genomförande
Promoting the dissemination of technological, medical, economical and behavioral expertise across disciplinary boundaries enables this project to carry out daring experiments. Our first experiment will give an insight to why peoples decision making differ quite dramatically when taking hypothetical compared to actual decisions to pay for commodities. By using the fMRI camera we can locate brain activation of each subjects decision and then use the theory of mind to support various explanations for decision making depending on where in the brain the decision was made.
