Syfte och mål

Overall aim of CESAR is to maintain the European leading edge position in the transportation and automation markets against US and Far East competition by boosting development effort and cost by an order of magnitude. The following three main objectives of CESAR were identified: The overall reduction of development time or effort, between 30% and 50% Reduce by 50% the cost of integration, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of appropriate tool-chains for all major actors in the supply chain involved in the project. To double within 5 years the number of European technology providers and European SMEs as contributors to the CESAR RTP.

Resultat och förväntade effekter

A European cross-sectoral standard reference technology platform (RTP) providing meta-models, methods, and tools for safety-relevant hard-real-time system development A standardized formal requirement capturing language supporting end-to-end design flow from system conception and requirement capturing to system realization Guidelines for the optimization and assessment of systems/multi-systems architecture choices with respect to business and operational criteria (cost, safety, reliability) A suite of multi-criteria design, analysis and validation methods supporting consistency analysis, safety analysis, verification and validation supporting the CESAR reference technology platform.

Upplägg och genomförande

CESAR is split in sub-projects (SPs), where two are innovation SPs (SP2 Requirements engineering and SP3 Component based design) jointly achieving the harmonized technical requirements, and three are from the application areas (SP5 Automotive, SP6 Aerospace, SP7 Automation and Rail) focusing on the integration of technical innovations of innovation subprojects in domain-specific processes and assessing the achievements of technical and business objectives by use case developments. SP1 is dedicated to building the Reference Technology Platform. The project spans over three years. Projects deliveries are documents, tools and demonstrators and milestones are implemented to measure project progress.
