Viktiga resultat som projektet gav
The project has developed an approach and supporting model to explore future scenarios for transportation to evaluate transformative solutions including different AD levels, fuel-cell, and battery-electric trucks. The targeted result: a method and modeling framework that enables the application of future studies and scenarios along the innovation processes has been achieved. Insights gained regarding battery modules, business model implications of upgradability and circular economy have raised new questions and broader interest and will be investigated in a new project.
Långsiktiga effekter som förväntas
The results suggest the model can provide insight to improve the future resilience of modular concepts and product platforms in the early stages of platform development. The model can also provide a structure for the recurring assessment of product configurations enabled by modules and system architecture, to evaluate resilience, overall performance, and sustainability and guide optimization of specific module variants and product configurations for multiple and evolving future scenarios.
Upplägg och genomförande
The project 5 main work packages: 1: Collect and augment scenarios from an earlier scenario study by industry and researchers. 2. Link scenarios with trucks´ main modules for modeling. Create a model to apply scenarios and evaluate a range of transport use cases and truck configurations. 3. Refining model focus on key strategic choices (batteries) and driving conditions. 4. Evaluate future, low- and high-performing configurations, key modules, and strategic options for truck platforms. 5. Conclude and suggest future research based on scenarios, modeling, and strategic insights.
