Syfte och mål

The project has achieved its´ targets to evaluate the feasibility of electrified goods distribution by using a real case in the city of Göteborg. By investigating the conditions for goods transport and the detailed routes, several hybrid- and electrified solutions have been evaluated. This has made it possible to answer how it electrification of urban goods transport can contribute to meet the environmental- and climate targets at the same time as meeting future transport needs. This knowledge can create new solutions for the market, both by current and new actors in the field.

Resultat och förväntade effekter

The results from the project show the possible rate of electrification of urban goods deliveries in Göteborg based on a TCO perspective. This rate is very important to compare to the targets of e.g. the EU White Paper on Transport. It will be difficult to make a transition to hybrid or electric vehicles before 2025 if it is only driven by the business perspective of the transport companies. Alternative logistic solutions, business models and incentives can increase rate of the transition. This can create new solutions for the market, both by current and new actors in the field.

Upplägg och genomförande

The project has resulted in a much improved understanding of the cost and benefits, economical as well as environmental, of urban vehicle electrification. This has been possible through the collaborative approach and by utilizing the knowledge and experience from different backgrounds and fields. The project has been able to combine research knowledge with actual transport cases and the results can therefore provide guidance in developing sustainable urban goods distribution for the future.
