Syfte och mål

Nordic Innovation, Vinnova and national agencies from the other Nordic countries have challenged 100 Nordic companies and a total of 800 managers to work holistically and systematically with innovation. The Innovation Radar diagnostic management tool, developed by professors at Kellogg School of Management in Chicago, has allowed the Nordic companies to score and track their innovation focus and efforts up to three times during the programme period. The companies and agencies perceptions of innovation have been challenged.

Resultat och förväntade effekter

Innovation is more than product development. Innovation is about new value creation. Companies can innovate and create new value for the firm and their customers in at least 12 different ways. Using the Innovation Radar framework we have examined how a number of Nordic companies innovative. In general, the Nordic companies are very traditional in their innovation approach, focusing primarily on product development, and much less on e.g. innovation through partnerships than many US companies. Through the program, the Nordic companies have become more aware and focused on innovation.

Upplägg och genomförande

The program is designed to involve different fields of expertice from within each company. Hence, each company has appointed on average 6-8 different managers to take the company assessment Innovation Radar surveys individually. Thereafter, they have participated in deep dive strategic workshops led by trained consultants to assess and discuss their radar profiles, discuss competitor strengths and positioning, and whether they should stay on course or change focus of their innovation strategy.
