Sustainable precision health
With the initiative Sustainable precision health Vinnova wants to mobilize for innovation that enables more people to live a longer life in health. We want to enable preventive, accurate and equal interventions.
Sweden and the world are facing urgent and complex health challenges, where the ongoing pandemic shows how health issues affect the whole of society. Public diseases are spreading and the inequality in who is affected is clear. Antibiotic resistance and the risks of pandemics are increasing. Our healthcare system is fragmented with many actors and healthcare costs are increasing.
Today, society's resources are mainly spent on diagnosis and treatment, and very little on promotion and preventive measures. There are great opportunities to save money and give more people a longer life in health if we think differently.
Innovation is needed to change
To meet the challenges, innovation in the broad sense and a coherent perspective on healthare needed. We need to have a holistic perspective and work more preventively. It is not only about medical interventions, but also about adapting our lifestyle and our environment.
New technologies and digitalisation are revolutionizing diagnostics, treatment and prevention, not least thanks to new opportunities to access and use data to build knowledge about individual conditions.
Sweden has good access to data from extensive registries, biobanks and journal systems. Together with high-quality healthcare and research and several strong innovation clusters, it gives Sweden good conditions to take global leadership. At the same time, global competition is increasing and Sweden's position is being challenged.
We mobilize to find solutions
With the initiative Sustainable precision health Vinnova mobilizes for innovation in health and life science. In exploratory dialogue with many perspectives, we identify challenges that can be solved with innovation. Smart use of data and co-creation are important keys to success. We do this because it creates new growth opportunities for Sweden and makes us an innovative force in a sustainable world.

We are involved in financing several strategic innovation programs and other strategic innovation environments and project that play a decisive role in the development of sustainable precision health.
