Terms and conditions for our funding

To receive funding from us, you need to follow our general terms and conditions.

Our general terms and conditions contain details on project agreements, reporting a project and what happens if you don't follow the conditions. These terms and conditions always apply, unless special clauses have been stipulated in your funding decision or the individual call.

You can find the conditions in the funding decision you receive from us, as well as on our website.

Please note that we have translated our terms and conditions from Swedish. If there are differences between the English and Swedish versions, the Swedish version applies.

Help to understand our terms and conditions

We want to make it easier for you to understand and meet our terms and conditions, so we've produced guides for some of our conditions. Some of these guides are currently only available in Swedish.

Participant's approval

All the participants in your project have to complete and submit the form for participant's approval. By completing this form, you commit to carry out the project as described in your application, following our terms and conditions.

Eligible costs

The costs that you can receive funding for are called 'eligible costs'. In our guide, we explain what costs you're able to ask us to cover, and how they're calculated and accounted for.

Access rights

With access rights we mean licenses and user rights to a participant's results or background in a project. In our guide we clarify our conditions on access rights.

Project agreement

In projects where there's more than one participant, you need to set up a project agreement between the participants in the project. In our agreement guide, we describe what you should keep in mind when creating a project agreement.

Auditor's certificate

Beneficiaries who receive a grant of SEK 3 million or more must, according to our general terms and conditions, attach an auditor's certificate when they submit the final report.

The certificate must be issued by a certified accountant, but there are exceptions:

  • If the beneficiary is a municipality, county council or a government agency, the auditor's certificate can also be issued by a professional local government auditor or a certified internal auditor.
  • If the beneficiary is a university or higher education establishment, no auditor's certificate is required unless stated in the decision or in special conditions.

Costs for the auditor's certificate can be included in the final report with up to SEK 30,000, even if the invoice has not yet been received.

You must use our template and instruction for the auditor's certificate.

We regularly review projects

Every year, we conduct at least 50 in-depth reviews of our funded projects. The right to review a project is governed by our general terms and conditions (see § 8.1, General terms and conditions ). It applies during the project period and for ten years after the last payment.

We can choose to review both ongoing and completed projects. We select projects for review both at random and based on what we consider to be of high risk.

The audit is performed by external auditors.

If we suspect a crime, we report to the police.

Earlier terms and conditions

You should abide by the general terms and conditions that were in force at the time when you received the grant decision. These general terms and conditions are applicable on most projects that were granted funding before January 1, 2020.
