Digital transformation

Advanced technology develops at a high pace and fundamentally affects society. Some technologies currently play a central role, for example artificial intelligence, 6G, quantum technology and extended reality (XR). Området Digital's restructuring at Vinnova supports and strengthens the development of these transformative technology areas and the system-wide solutions that are based on them. In this way, we increase Swedish innovation power and can be a forerunners in combining green and digital transformation.

Vinnova's role is to, together with society's actors, enable innovation and collaboration to drive forward technical solutions, growth companies and new ways of using data. How do we take advantage of the opportunities that the transformative technologies provide?

The Digital transformation area supports the process via three different perspectives:

  • Transformative technology areas - from the early concept and technology development
  • Next generation infrastructure and systems - via next generation infrastructure such as digital platforms and automation
  • Mobilization for societal transformation - to enable change at the system level and to solve our major societal challenges

Advanced digitalisation – a collaboration between Vinnova and industry

Together with the industry (Teknikföretagen, ABB, Ericsson and Saab) Vinnova runs the Advanced digitalisationprogram. On behalf of the government, the efforts are scaled up significantly during 2023-2027. Seven new calls for proposals in everything from advanced artificial intelligence to gender equality in industry were opened in June 2023.
