Purpose and goal

The goal of Connected SRS has been to explore and enable the use of IoT in the sustainability management work of Stockholm Royal Seaport. The project has successfully contributed to the goal by demonstrating technical possibilities with IoT and central platforms; providing inspiring examples on the use of IoT in various areas; and identifying challenges that need to be addressed for successful implementation of IoT within the city. Also, by contributing to the establishment of networks and forums for dialogue between the city´s administrations and companies.

Expected results and effects

Main results from the project are not so much specific data and analysis provided in the pilots, but rather the more general insights generated from the working process. Results in brief: -A new IoT-platform solution based on Fiware -Lessons learned about installation and management of sensors -Specification of development needs linked to IoT in administrations and companies within the city -New forums and networks for collaboration around IoT The city has taken a few steps closer being able to use IoT in their work on Agenda 2030.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was conducted by the Urban Development Office in collaboration with the City Management Office and RISE, Sensative, Metry and Stek. Project activities include: collaboration with other IoT-projects and establishment of forums for dialogue; development of the IoT-platform RISE UDP; and pilot tests within resource flows, transports and public spaces. Learnings include that it is important to consider individual projects as part of a long-term development. Establishing a project takes time, therefore successful collaborations should be seen and managed as results.
