Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project is to develop teaching material in mathematics that shows the purpose and application areas of mathematics in real life, to help teachers motivate their students and improve study results. The long-term goal is to help raise the share of students that go to high school (gymnasium). With this project, we are several steps closer to this goal since we now have an alpha of the product ready for testing with end users. We also have specific strategies regarding sales and distribution, which we will work further on with valuable input from the tests.
Expected results and effects
The aim of the project was mainly the alpha version of the product which is going to be evaluated this fall. We are very satisfied with the resulting alpha. In addition to this, we have been working on verifying the concept as well as possible business models. This work will continue and we will come to more final decisions regarding these questions during and after conducting the tests. The long-term effects of the project outcome are what leads us and drives us forward, though there are no measurable effects in this stage of development.
Planned approach and implementation
The plan was to focus on two main activities. Development of the teaching material as well as verification of need and business model. The development was efficient, we used an iterative method and conducted regular tests internally and externally. The verification activities mainly consisted of conversations with end users and decision makers. These talks have strengthened our conviction of the need and the interest. However, the lack of a good prototype has been limiting. More tests are necessary to validate the concept and to be able to decide on a final business model.
