Purpose and goal
The aim for this project is to create a tool that can simulate and visualize the grouting process. The tool can be adapted to be used in different areas and by different customers such as education institutions, tunnel owners, consultancies and contractors. During this project the tool have been adapted to be used for educational purposes and has been used in a BeFo-course that was held by KTH and Chalmers.
Results and expected effects
A first version of the tool has been fully developed. The tool is capable of simulating grouting in several boreholes that cross a collection of fractures. The user can adjust different parameters of the grouting process such as design pressure, grout properties, and fracture width. Edvirt carried out a consulting assignment for BeFo. The tool was used in a grouting course that was held by KTH and Chalmers. The course leader used the tool to viusalize the grouting process pedagogically.
Approach and implementation
Equations that have been used in the computing system in the tool have been developed in close collaboration with researchers at Chalmers. Edvirt have held several meetings with the project group in which the tools development and advancement have been presented. The project group have also been able to give feedback on new features to be implemented in the tool. In the last development stage the tool started to be specialized for educational purposes. New functions were added to be used in the grouting course.
