Purpose and goal

A proposal has been submitted for Viable Cities 2.0. The program maintains its focus on the mission of climate-neutral cities 2030 with a good life for all within planetary boundaries. The program intends to strengthen the mobilization that took place during 2017-2023. The program will work with attractive and well-functioning societies, digitalisation, multi-level governance and just transition and further strengthen the business potential of the climate transition and the importance of new financial and economic logics.

Expected results and effects

A proposal has been submitted regarding Viable Cities 2.0 as a programme within Impact Innovation. The parties that make up the consortium are: KTH, Lund University, RISE, SEI and SISP. Viable Cities existing members (about 130) in quadruple helix stand behind proposal. In the application process, new partners have also been mobilized based on designated areas for deepening and broadening.

Planned approach and implementation

During 2023, extensive dialogue has taken place to involve Viable Cities members, partners and stakeholders in a co-creation of the program´s design and direction. For example, in recurring workshops with Swedish cities and government agencies, strategy days and workshops with board of directors, members and stakeholders; member survey and interviews with key stakeholders. Written documents have been sent out for comments. Dialogue with new partners has developed the program´s potential and added important skills and abilities.
