Verification for companies at Karolinska Institutet Innovations AB

Purpose and goal

The aim is to translate research findings into better care, medicines and medical aids by strengthening existing life science companies using early verification tools. Since the companies that receive support are in an early phase, implementation will take place later. However, all companies have come one step closer to implementation and in several cases, the activities have contributed to significant follow-up investments that enable clinical development of drug candidates. In one case, the verification showed that the project is not commercially viable.

Expected results and effects

The result of this pilot project must be considered successful. All companies except one have come one step closer to commercialization. In three cases, companies have received significant sums to prepare or prepare for clinical tests.

Planned approach and implementation

We have used a similar decision process as the one for VFT that is well integrated into our business. A big challenge here has been how to reach the companies. Through existing contacts with companies both connected and not linked to KI, the information about the program has been spread. Through cooperation with other actors in the program, support has been given as well as knowledge has been transfered.
