Triblade pilot demonstration

Purpose and goal

Triblade is a disruptive technology for large scale wind turbine rotor blades that has been developed by Winfoor. The unique technology is a 3-in-1-blade, that dramatically reduces the cost of production and transportation of rotor blades. At the same time, the blades can be made both longer och much lighter than what is possible today. A crucial next step is to demonstrate the technology on a larger scale and under real conditions. This includes design, simulations, prototyping, testing, marketing activities and other preparatory work to carry out such a demonstration project.

Expected results and effects

In this project, we have made substantial R & D efforts and the preparatory work to carry out a demonstration project where we will build and demonstrate a 22m diameter Triblade rotor on a turbine test under real conditions. We have also conducted a number of marketing activities to pave the way for Triblade market uptake.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been carried out in close cooperation with the company´s different partners for development, production and testing. To ensure high relevance and high quality of the project, the company has also been in continuous dialogue with experts from several of the leading manufacturers of wind turbines. Having a good cooperation with these external partners has been essential for the success of the project.
