Purpose and goal
The test bed is aimed at creating conditions for long-term innovation and companies and problem owners mutual development, with support from research institutes and academia. The goal of the preparatory project is to provide a basis for the next step in the implementation phase and to build up the physical test bed.
Expected results and effects
The planned test bed is unique in Sweden, as problem owners from the defense sector and the municipal rescue service are also partners in collaboration with research institutes and industry. Already today, the problem owners have identified a great need to perform quality assured tests to find solutions that can be applied to already contaminated areas and create the conditions for alternative fire extinguishing agents and methods in the future.
Planned approach and implementation
A test bed with the intended focus needs relatively wide range of resources - from laboratory resources, access to contaminated areas, and the possibility to test the fire extinguishing agents and fire extinguishing methods of the future with the lowest possible environmental impact. This will to be met by the utilization of the research institute´s existing lab infrastructure, the problem owners physical sites with contaminated water and contaminated ground, as well as the research institute´s and rescue services´ test and training sites.
