Purpose and goal

During the feasibility study, the Working Group examined the following: i) The need and extent of and the cost of local test beds, ii) Liaison with Academic Innovation, iii) Build-up of a platform for researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, businessmen, officials and politicians in county of Västmanland, Sweden, iv) Construction of a plan for test unit at Centre for clinical research (CKF) and recruitment of health care professionals to work on the real and the virtual test bed activities.

Results and expected effects

The feasibility study resulted in the identification of strengths and weaknesses that can be expected in the establishment of test beds. A powerful expressed support for the idea came from prospective stakeholders: researchers, entrepreneurs and professionals. The project also has the support of county council leadership. Our conclusion is that there are every chance for a successful implementation of test beds activities with the stakeholders identified in the study. Work is underway to resolve the issue of identification of relevant space for localization of the activity.

Approach and implementation

The following activities took place during the feasibility study period. A. Focus groups regarding test beds in Västmanland B. Research collaboration within Västmanland C. Regional meetings on Healthcare Technology D. Information for health care leadership in Västmanland and identification of future monitors in the virtual activities E. Create a corporation with the Innovation Akademiska, Uppsala In all activities participate, a total of about 200 people from various organizations within the county council, universities, industry and the provincial government.
