Purpose and goal
To promote the development of industrial and urban symbiosis several lectures, workshops and breakfast meetings have been held. This has increased the knowledge of the area and created relations and trust between the participating companies and municipal departments. To aid the development and behavioural change needed towards a circular and bio-based economy, residual flows have been mapped out and several possibilities of symbiosis have been identified. A model has been developed to identify and analyse activities that can lead to new business opportunities.
Expected results and effects
The project has increased the knowledge about IUS through extensive communication activities at local, regional, national and international levels. A project conference was held to share experience which brought together new interested parties and expanded the network of contributors. Several platforms for exchange of experiences and ideas have been formed and going forward a more permanent platform for this will be set. A new plan to support the solutions and strategies has been developed in the model area and will be presented to the politicians for the municipality of Lidköping.
Planned approach and implementation
To use outside expertise to map the residual flows with the use of the model (RAQ) was very efficient and contributed to several new ideas. To create platforms or forums for dialogue between companies and municipal parties has increased the trust, developed new ideas for symbiosis and strengthened the ability to find solutions to problems. To work with a simple model to analyse symbiosis possibilities through different perspectives contributed to bring these ideas to the next level and create business opportunities.
