Purpose and goal

The aim was to allow student to use an advanced web application in order to analyze official statistics, draw conclusions and produce visualized stories and by that become a “Hans Rosling of their own.” The students have, without hesitation, created visualized stories with the application. They have by visual storytelling produced the conclusions as interactive visual stories which have been possible to share with others by publishing at the web. The students have by this become their own version of Hans Rosling.

The results show that the students are able to: - search, filter and process information in relation to official statistics, large data bases and data sets - analyze and create basis for presenting digital interactive visual stories - handle visual storytelling methods for producing and publishing interactive visual stories Students easily understand these methods which indicate a great potential for this kind of digital stories. A new web / learning portal has been created "vise.academy" where the web-based tools eXplorer and Publisher are available.
