Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 400 000
Project duration December 2016 - December 2019
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation program InfraSweden

Purpose and goal

Mapping transport flows and processes to identify areas that can be streamlined and make recommendations for the introduction of new technologies and solutions. The project not only achieved this, but also successfully, in the real project, demonstrated how the solution can be used and what results can be achieved. The solution delivers i.a. real-time information from truck to excavator regarding truck capacity, digital load receipts type of material and destination. Information that is also available in apps, dashboards etc. for example authorities.

Expected results and effects

The results of the project have been demonstrated in the intended target environment and the positive effects are great, not only for VCE and NCC, but also for NCC´s subcontractors and clients. The new Effectiv Utlastning service has gained a lot of commercial space in the media. The aim was to create innovations during the construction phase in order to find a working model that takes into account both the needs of the individual actors and the overall achieved efficiency. The cost-benefit analysis clearly shows the positive effects of the project from a socio-economic perspective.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was initially affected by delays linked to decisions and appeals but has since had a good progress. A workshop was organized in Gothenburg with the participation of NCC, Volvo CE, Volvo Trucks, KTH, the Swedish Transport Administration, and others. Initially, the specific case was mapped in terms of transport flows, processes for identifying areas where new technology could come into use, and studying and recommending solutions. The resulting service is a testament to the strength of working closely together to find a good solution that could be spread to other projects.
