Purpose and goal

In line with the project´s goals, we have performed in depth user analyses along with technical and safety verifications. In accordance with the project´s overall aim, the Sidekick software is now ready for large scale testing and clinical trials. Following the completion of this project, Sidekick is now ready to be established as a tool with scientifically proven efficacy for the prevention and treatment of lifestyle disease such as type-2 diabetes.

Results and expected effects

The project resulted in significant improvements to the product in terms of design, user experience and technical optimization based on focus group evaluation and usage. Increased user engagement, measured over 90% among all focus group, upgraded onboarding, increased data safety and increased health-behavior among testers were evident as the result of product refinement based on test group usage and standardized evaluation.

Approach and implementation

The project was lead by GoodlifeMe AB in cooperation with senior academic and clinical professionals at Karolinska Institutet, the University of Gothenburg, Sahlgrenska University hospital, the Swedish National Diabetes Register, the Harvard School of Public Health, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab, and the University of Iceland. User testing with focus groups and target populations was performed in Sweden and Iceland, in 12 groups at health clinics, obesity clinics and other venues, with over a hundred testers.
