Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The preliminary study ´Få sex att funka´ fulfilled its purpose by, through an interview study, contributing with new knowledge about the needs of the target group and the lack of knowledge about the issue in general. Through round-table conferences we stimulated interest for the issue, and we made cooperation and networking between central parts in the field possible. We identified both fields with innovation potential and organizations working in the field.

Results and expected effects

The preliminary study contributed to new knowledge about how people with non-normative body types experience sex education in school. The mapping of organizations who work with sexuality and disability highlight some of the more influential project in Sweden today, but also how the field can be developed. The discussions and talks we had with other parts in the field raised awareness of existing needs and the importance of norm critical ways of working. The exchange of experiences created a more comprehensive view that might give innovative ideas a good opportunity to grow.

Approach and implementation

The preliminary study started with mapping on existing projects and research followed by a qualitative interview study, analysis, innovation development and round-table conferences. In retrospect we think that it would have been fortunate to involve even more parts of the field and arranged even more meetings. Representatives from health care, school, interest groups and individuals could have discussed needs, innovation and cooperation further. That set up could have stimulated a broader interest for the issue and given us a higher level of innovative ideas.
