Purpose and goal

The idea presented in the project application is in that it would be possible to optimize already in the CAM environment which operation sequence of machining operations to be performed with respect to tool changes and tool utilization.

Expected results and effects

The project is intended to address the interface between the optimization of tool life and toolpaths and machining sequence optimization. A demonstrator for this has been developed for drilling operations in the Siemens NX in the form of a dll file with the graphical interface. A publication has been submitted for peer review, another one is under completion. Several companies have shown interest in this work and that it has been recognized in England. Not more than likely one or more extension projects will be created and that commercialization can be possible

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been collaborating with the University of Jyväskylä regarding Multiobjective optimization. 30 parameters where gathered from the CAM system along with wear parameters. These are the basis for the optimization. The optimization function was developed in Matlab and have since been converted to C # in the form of a dll file. This to allow a good implementation. The development of the dll file and the graphical interfaces for Siemens NX has been made in collaboration with an external consultant.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
