Purpose and goal

The aim of the planning phase was to accomplish a solid base for the project work in progress, including to ensure that the project organization gets input from concerned organizations and also to gain approval for the project. The objective of the planning phase was to detail project objectives and deliverables, and to establish a project organization. Aim and objective are fulfilled/met.

Results and expected effects

The expected results at project ending in 2017 are the following: 1.The analysis tool and decision support systems are developed, tested and evaluated. 2.Information and education material are developed. 3.Implementation of the decision support systems has begun. Implementation responsibility is transferred to county councils / regions and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. 4.Description of the responsibility for the management and further development are accepted and established. 5.Increased knowledge of sickness absence.

Approach and implementation

The planning phase has been conducted by a small working group with participants from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency and the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions. After a few months the project steering group was established. The group include, in addition to representatives from the above mentioned organizations, representatives from the National Board and county councils / regions (see Appendix 1 in the attached project). The steering committee has decided on important questions.
