Purpose and goal

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Castings of the intended alloy and associated testing have been carried out and a design manual for re-cast articles has been produced. The project includes two demonstrators for the end users of the project. One with a focus on weight loss and one where productivity and economic aspects were in focus. The project is successful and shows potential for future articles to be developed.

Expected results and effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** We have re-cast demonstrators for weight loss as well as for increased productivity and improved economy, this was done with good results. Validation test shows good potential. However, further tuning and increased understanding of the casting process is required before these articles can go into series production. One of the most important deliveries from the project is the design manual which will soon be published for the public and interested companies.

Planned approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project started by identifying which alloys were to be investigated. We selected five alloys and they were thoroughly selected according to the demonstrators´ eligibility requirements for fatigue and elongation values. Over 6000h fatigue testing has been carried out and a solid knowledge of reo casting and these five alloys has been obtained. The accumulated knowledge together with previously obtained research was gathered in a design manual for re-casting which will be published shortly.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
