Reuse and preparation for reuse of fittings from housing renovation

Important results from the project

We want to implement an innovation competition for re-use of building materials and increase recycling in the renovation of homes. The aim is to reduce the amount of construction and demolition waste and increase reuse of building materials. The goal of this project was to develop a project plan for an innovation contest.

Expected long term effects

There is a great need for innovation in this area. It is an unexplored area based on large-scale solutions such as renovation of suburban residential areas. The knowledge is low in this sector and there is as yet no commercial infrastructure. The project would be possible to find methods for the reuse and recycling that helps the housing companies to help reduce unsorted waste.

Approach and implementation

To achieve this goal, we need to implement innovation competition in two phases. The first stage is to involve as many people as possible in the recycling issue so that we can more accurately formulate challenges. In the second phase, we will ask for innovations in priority areas that emerged in the first phase. In the planning stage we have now completed, we brought together stakeholders from the construction industry jointly developed research questions and provide input to the project plan.
