Important results from the project

Purpose The project aims to develop regional access to and provide higher quality in the range of operations across the municipal boundaries in Stockholm Region. A regionally developed cultural school and access to sport arenas aim to offer young people a broader and better range of activities through effective collaboration across municipal boundaries in the region. The model and the tools that have been developed for collaboration across municipal boundaries are ready for the municipalities to use; a manual, cost calculations, contract proposals and legal principles.

Expected long term effects

Within the sports area, 14 collaborations across municipal boundaries are active. Some of them have been in operation for a time. A few more collaborations are expected to start within a year or so. Within the cultural schools operations, 4 municipalities are running with exchanges on a smaller scale. Another 4-6 municipalities are discussing to start exchanging pupils in 2020 or 2021. Within activities for people with more extensive disabilities, 4 collaborations are operating, two more will be included in the model, hopefully soon.

Approach and implementation

The most important development is a new model for collaboration between the municipalities. This model can hopefully work as a platform for the municipalities´ cooperation for a long time. A new mindset The experience is that a majority of those who work with planning think much more regionally now than in the early 2000:s. This is one of the most important achievements in the project. This can hopefully work as a platform for other processes and projects that needs a regional way of thinking. In addition, the collaboration climate between administrations has developed very positively.
