Purpose and goal
We sought funding for the purchase and testing of other cultivation equipment that could facilitate and rationalize the work and thereby increase capacity and profitability. The goal was to promote sustainable growth regarding environment and market. Reduce the physical workload and promote gender equality in the company. All equipment has been ordered according to plan and the project has also been further developed to include a complete cultivation system that will further rationalize. Sales in the company have increased and we were therefore able to invest more than expected.
Expected results and effects
Evaluation regarding handling of equipment and growth of oysters, we have not been able to do it ourselves because the production and delivery of the equipment is delayed. However, we were able to evaluate that the material on the floats did not work here with us before it was purchased. This meant that the grower at Nya Zeeland also started manufacturing shuttles and automation rigs, so now we get a more complete system directly. Growers all over the world are now buying into the system. We are first in line for delivery and are fully convinced that the targets will be met beyond expectations.
Planned approach and implementation
Order of cultivation baskets was made directly. After conversation with manufacturers / growers and after testing the material, we realized that the flow elements would not work in our climate. During the winter they must be lowered and then compressed by the pressure and do not return to their original shape. The order was changed to a new type of appropriate "floats" and then with the addition of the system; a shuttle and rig that automates the turning of the baskets. We have financed this ourselves from this year´s revenues and everything has already been paid for. Delivery in spring.
