Rail Test Nordic

Purpose and goal

The goal was to realise the test bed. There is today an established way how to realise the test bed. The following parts have been developed: - The technical design of the test bed has been developed with potential users. - Funding plans for the construction and operational phase. - Organizational structure for the construction and operating phase with ownership and financing for those different parts of the test bed. - Customers who are prepared to invest and sign long-term usage agreements. - Existing railways, with bridges, drums, etc. are inspected to get more accurate calculations.

Expected results and effects

The test bed or test track will give the opportunity to: - Increase innovation in the railway industry, especially the Swedish rail industry, where about 25,000 are employed today. - Strengthen the railways competitiveness and thereby reduce environmental impact within transport. Railway is a very environmentally friendly mode of transport that has very low emissions of greenhouse gases. - generate export earnings by overseas companies testing their products on the test track - be unique in Europe, etc. winter tests and high speed tests.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has had many different contacts / activities simultaneously. It has been forest owners, hunters, locals, politicians, train manufacturers, universities, industry organizations at national and international level, financial institutions, consultants and our project partner.
