Purpose and goal
Strength grading techniques for timber in use today are usually built on rather week relations between stiffness and strength and in order to improve the yield in high strength classes more accurate methods are needed. The hypothesis that is evaluated in this project concerns the possibility to develop a machine strength grading technique by which bending strength predictions are based on scanning and fracture mechanical models.
