Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration May 2013 - December 2013
Status Completed
Venture Challenge-Driven Innovation – Stage 1 initiation

Purpose and goal

The project´s purpose and aim were to bring together researchers, public / private sector and industry, in construction and civil engineering to the collaborative development of new and attractive solutions for green establishments / roof gardens, taking into account the environment and high standards of sustainability for materials, construction techniques and energy efficiency. This was fulfilled through a well-attended workshop. The interest in the project has become very large. Articles about the project and workshop have been published in trade magazines and on websites.

Results and expected effects

The overall outcome of the project is that problems and needs for the many planned complex green establishments / roof gardens in Swedish cities now are partially mapped by joint efforts of scientists, industry and the public / private sector. This has in turn made some hundred actors want to participate in any future Vinnova collaborative project to contribute to building these facilities with quality assurance and zero tolerance for leaks.

Approach and implementation

The project has focused on forming a consortium and to develop joint ideas and proposals of comprehensive and quality-assured solutions for green roof gardens on decks/structural members with zero tolerance for leaks. Good and bad examples have been identified and a workshop completed. Results of completed work, including workshop, have been compiled and an application to a Vinnova collaborative project has been developed. The number of participating contractors in workshop and project work has been unsatisfactorily low and will initially be dealt with in step 2, and acted upon.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
