Purpose and goal
Purpose: Develop improved plate bearing products by using the press hardening method. Objectives: Result in the form of process definition, characterization of material, level of cost for application in a pilot study. 10% cost reduction. Define the need of product development and new tooling/manufacturing concepts.
Results and expected effects
Presshardened bearing components will take market shares through the competitiveness of the concept where -efficient production, -cheaper and more environment friendly material, -decreased weight are some of the factors.
Approach and implementation
The projects is realized in close collaboration between Gestamp and SKF. Academy and external institute will be engaged for some of the reasearch activities. Prototype parts will be produces and verified according to existing requirements.
