Pre-study - knowledge documentation of the NKS-process

Reference number
Coordinator Karolinska institutet - Medical Management Centrum
Funding from Vinnova SEK 675 000
Project duration December 2012 - April 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the pre-study was to conduct a mapping of knowledge themes related to the NKS-process valuable to document. The pre-study clearly identified that a knowledge based support in ´change management´ is both scientifically justified and needed to promote the development and outcome of the NKS-process. Thus, the study suggests ´change management´ as preferred theme to conduct research on. The material and analysis produced in this pre-study may form the basis for a larger research application as a next step. Hence, we conclude that the goal of the pre-study has been fulfilled.

Results and expected effects

The pre-study has identified that a research-oriented documentation of the NKS-process from a change management perspective meets both a need based rationale for Karolinska University Hospital and a knowledge based rationale for the scientific community. The pre-study will form the basis for a major VINNOVA application for a research-based documentation of the NKS process.

Approach and implementation

The design and execution of the pre-study has consisted of regular meetings and workshops with various key stakeholders related to the NKS process. Furthermore, the data collection has consisted of observations and an extensive literature review. The project´s progress and preliminary conclusions have continuously been reported and validated by the Operational Steering Group of nya Karolinska and VINNOVA.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
