Important results from the project
In a vehicle production process, the paint shop is a major consumer of energy. To introduce a continuous adaptation of the level of ventilation to actual capacity usage would mean energy savings of up to 25%, but has up to now not been realized due to the process complexity. The approach is to use modern virtual tools to model the paintshop in order to understand how parameter changes affect the quality. Computational Fluid Dynamics tools will be used to create the model that will be the input to the design of a Model Predictive Controller.
