Coordinator Lunds universitet - Avd. för byggnadsmekanik
Funding from Vinnova SEK 30 000
Project duration December 2016 - June 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project concerns outdoor load bearing timber structures.By using so-called chemically modified wood, the idea is to replace pressure-treated wood in parts of load-bearing structures. This gives better environmental performance (modified wood is non-toxic) and increased possibilities of displaying the wood. The purpose of this pre-study has been to formulate needs, wishes, requirements, opportunities, challenges, etc. to formulate a major innovation project. Such an innovation project has been formulated.

Expected results and effects

Through the work, a context has been created in which representatives of several stakeholder groups were able to discuss requirements and needs related to outdoor load bearing structures. In connection with a workshop, contacts with contractors, architects etc. were deepened.

Planned approach and implementation

The work has been carried out partly in the smaller group of this pre-study and partly in close collaboration with other pre-studies within BioInnovation. During the work, telephone meetings and physical meetings have been used as means to interact. The work has given a broad insight into several subprojects, which made it possible to create a larger project with clear links between the subprojects.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
