Purpose and goal
We plan to test the possibility of manufacturing shape memory alloy foams using microwave sintering. In principal we will explore the possibility of using microwaves for a faster and more energy efficient sintering. To validate the proposed hypothesis, Chalmers has joined forces with Stockholm University where the microwave sintering will be carried out. To compare the results from microwave sintering with conventional sintering, Callo AB is willing to contribute and perform the conventional sintering of the foam.
