Important results from the project
This project is a continuation of a doctoral dissertation project that was initiated in March 2006 and funded by VINNOVA. The purpose of the project is to gain in-depth understanding of how quantitative decision-making tools/calculation methods in regional transport are used in concrete planning, as well as to contribution to policy recommendations on possible ways to improve these tools/methods. The project focuses on the use of Cost Benefit Analysis, CBA in regional transport planning in parts of western Sweden.
Expected long term effects
The project is expected to result in a reflective, critical analysis of how quantitative decision-making tools/calculation methods (specifically CBA) are interpreted and applied by various actors in regional transport planning, as well as a analysis of the importance of these roles in prioritizing among possible transport investments.
Approach and implementation
The project has a qualitative, case-oriented approach that uses methods such as interviews, document analysis and, to a lesser extent, participant observation.
