Purpose and goal
The overall objective of the project was to develop a fully operational solution for a simple and cost-effective property-close collection of high-quality food waste from multi-family houses, thereby contributing to increased biological recycling in Sweden. This objective has been fully met. The solution that has been developed in the project has been tested for five months in real operation and proved to be very successful. The solution includes quality control and tracking of source to ensure a high quality of the waste
Expected results and effects
The project has exceeded expected results and effects. The solution that has been implemented shows that food waste can be collected with almost 100% purity from multi-family houses. The solution has been tested in a municipality-owned residential area with historically significant problems in collecting food waste and proved to significantly increase both the collected amount as well as the quality of the waste.
Planned approach and implementation
The project was carried out according to the project plan and the work was conducted in eight work packages. We took the help of a subcontractor to implement the IT technical components of the solution, which worked very well and was necessary because we did not own IT technical development skills.
