Purpose and goal
Briefly describe megatrends that affect or will affect the infrastructure sector. Briefly describe how innovation can be used to meet these megatrends. Give example on how decentralized firms in other sectors develop and spread innovative solutions. Explore the relevance of these examples to the infrastructure sector. Project organisations in infrastructure projects are the main focus. The goal is to give the sector new perspectives on how innovation can be driven on many levels.
Expected results and effects
The expected outcome is new perspective on how change management can be used in the sector’s decentralized structure to advance innovation. The benefit is that experience of innovation in decentralized organizations in other sectors becomes accessible to the infrastructure sector. The experiences are summarized in concrete actions aimed at different roles in project organisations. The expected effect is increased understanding on how different roles can contribute to innovation, not only top management and innovation departments.
Planned approach and implementation
1. Analysis of megatrends (literature review) 2. Innovation process is described (literature review) 3. The megatrends´ connection to the role of the infrastructure sector and the need for innovation is described. 4. Examples of behaviors and routines that build a creative culture is gathered from other sectors (literature review and interviews) 5. Workshop about relevant tasks in the infrastructure sector is analyzed in a workshop 6. The results are compiled in a report including recommendations to different roles
