Purpose and goal

A test application was developed consisting of a number of experiments, where each experiment contained parts of drawings, filmed material and mini-games with augmented reality. A market analysis was created towards pre-school teachers at the beginning of the project to create a clearer picture of what was important to focus on and what kindergarten teachers themselves expected of the project.

Results and expected effects

A demo application was developed with a number of different chapters where all the planned parts where contained. All chapters begin with the user filming on a picture of one of the book´s chapters. The camera records the image and creates an effect of the image that lifts up from the page and into the application. Each experiment starts with an animated introduction and then depending on the experiment divides into casual games, videos and three-dimensional experience effects. All experiments are tied together at the end of a filmed explanation of how the parts of the experiment worked.

Approach and implementation

We divided the project into three phases that began with a number of workshops to structure an idea of what we wanted to achieve and what equipment and techniques that would be needed. In addition to the initial meetings, all project partners met continually with fixed weekly meetings where we ensured that everyone was heading towards the same goal. We carried out a market survey in phase two to collect information from pre-school teachers about what was most important to focus on for the prototype. It ended with a technical experiment where we did a demo iOS application with experiments.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
