Important results from the project
To study how to create driving force for improvement and development of production systems with increased environmental focus. To achieve sustainable improvements, it is important to combine the individual fundamental requirements, driving forces and development needs with business demands for increased performance. The project had two focus areas; designing sustainable, ergonomic workstations as well as integrating environmental aspects in the improvement work. A unifying theme was to focus the potential to create learning, motivation and commitment in change processes.
Expected long term effects
The problem areas that have been focused on in the project are basically generic for Swedish industry. The focus has been to develop universally applicable methods and tools. This applies tools for increased environmental commitment as well as tools for workplace design and the commitment model developed in the project. The project has also created a website, www.ngps.se, to make the results publicly available.
Approach and implementation
The project has been organized into 3 work packages; WP1 - Green Lean Shop Floor. Studies of methods and tools for creating local commitment to environmental improvements and how production related environmental issues can be included in early stages of production process development and developed a method for this. WP2 - Work Station Optimization. Mapping of current approaches and development of a process for workstation design and a supporting tool WP3 - Lean & Green Commitment. Study of prerequisites for learning, motivation and commitment and development of a commitment model
