ITEA ASSUME FindOut

Reference number
Coordinator FindOut Technologies AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration June 2015 - May 2018
Status Completed
Venture Eureka cluster co-funding

Purpose and goal

The overall purpose of the ASSUME participation has been to provide better support for the development of embedded software. FindOut´s part of the project focused on interoperability between development tools, where we have shown that using standardized technologies (Semantic Web / LinkedData) we can build applications that consume linked data from different sources. FindOut has also demonstrated the business potential for SMEs to be involved in this area, by starting a commercial project already during the project.

Expected results and effects

FindOut has shown that using standardized technologies (semantic web / LinkedData), applications can be developed that consume linked data from different sources. We have based on Scania´s use case not only demonstrated, but also in a subsequent commercial project implemented, an application that provides architects and developers a dynamic visual description of complex architectural relations, which increases the understanding of the system as a whole and contributes to more efficient development of embedded software. Hence, we consider the expected effect to be achieved.

Planned approach and implementation

The KTH-Scania-FindOut consortium has been very successful. KTH has provided competence in the Linked Data area and assisted FindOut with expertise. Scania has had a clear Use Case in an area of great importance and high attention for the automotive industry. We at FindOut have been able to apply our previous experience in visualization of business information into this new domain. The project has been carried out at a rapid pace and with high efficiency, and it was already at an early stage clear that the potential was very promising for a commercial implementation project.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
