Purpose and goal

IT for better learning is a testing environment for both internal and external innovations aimed at better understanding how technology and digitalization can improve student outcomes in Swedish schools. The goal is higher student outcomes - our focus is therefore on usage rather then early stage technology innovation. The goal of this project was to start establishing and plan for the execution of this testing environment at AcadeMedia. This has been achieved with several initiatied tests, a strong internal committment and a well-balanced plan going forward.

Results and expected effects

Expected outcomes from the project is twofold; first that we become better in chosing the appropriate tool or method and then really get down to evaluate its effect, secondly that we become more open for co-operation and to share our insights, both internally and externally.

Approach and implementation

The project has been led by a central working group. User councils have been established on several levels, we have put the topic on the management teams´ agendas, our business planning was adapted to include IT for better learning and much effort has been put on waking the interest and curiosity of our staff. We have started co-operation with several partners, both academic and other school principals. Some insights are that a lot is happening in our schools, few have time to do proper evaluation/analysis and effect of academic involvement is limited by different time constraints.
