Coordinator MIMSI Materials AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 100 000
Project duration October 2018 - December 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal was to develop a commercial IP strategy, which was achieved via two full-day workshops with an external IP strategy consultant firm. In the first workshop, we carefully mapped out, identified and categorized all of our intellectual assets to assess which ones were unique, controlled and of commercial value to our business. In the second workshop, we investigated the business ecosystem and different stakeholders in the value chain to understand our company´s position in relation to these actors. This was carefully analyzed to prioritize the most relevant business scenarios.

Expected results and effects

We developed a commercial IP strategy to support and develop our business. To reach this goal, we analyzed our business, technology, the key stakeholders and how we should position ourselves in relation to these actors. Based on the output from this activity, we mapped out a high level IP landscape that we exploited to design different business scenarios. Through careful analysis and prioritization of the different scenarios, a commercial IP strategy and roadmap was developed for implementation in order to optimally leverage and monetize our intellectual assets.

Planned approach and implementation

The external IP strategy consultant scheduled two full-day in-person workshop sessions, which were the key activities needed to fulfill the project goals. It was of high value having the workshops face-to-face with the IP strategy experts since it allowed us to efficiently address the most relevant topics, and capture feedback. Prior to the first workshop, we were given preparatory and supplementary work to complete. Two members of our team with core expertise in business and technology worked closely with a project team consisting of four experts from the external IP strategy firm.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
