Purpose and goal
The aim of this study is to compare the effects of an Internet-based neck-specific exercise programme for individuals with chronic whiplash associated disorders (WAD) to the same exercises performed at a physiotherapy clinic. If satisfactory results with the study the Internet-based program will be further developed and implemented in the health care system and society..
Expected results and effects
The study will answer if internet-based care provides an equivalent effect as an already well proven exercise program performed at a physiotheraphy clinic. The study results may contribute to flexible and equal care, shorter waiting times, increased avaliability, and lower costs for healthcare and society.
Planned approach and implementation
Part 1. A prospective randomized clinical multicenter study for people with chronic WAD grade 2 and 3 comparing internet-based exercise (NSEIT) with a total of 4 visits to physiotherapist with neck-specific exercise at a physiotherapy clinic (NSE) 2 times / week for 12 weeks. Part 2. Freedom to operate analysis and regulatory plans will be prepared if good results in part 1. Part 3. Implementation to health care and the general public.
